Machapuchare is a mountain no one has ever stood on top of. We borrowed its name to head for the places no one has been.

The Name
Machapuchare ‘Fish Tail’ · Annapurna Himal
Nepali for ‘fish tail’. A 6,993-metre peak in the Annapurna range of the Himalaya. Held sacred, closed to climbers, and to this day without a single recorded ascent.
In 1957 an expedition climbed to within 50 metres of the summit, then kept its promise and turned back. The mountain remains unknown.
We named ourselves
after a direction,
not a summit.
Having no set path also means being free to go anywhere. Machapuchare Labs begins from that open state. Before deciding what to build, we decided where to head.
